Good HealthThe Foundation of Good HealthAs we all know, there is rarely a simple one-size-fits-all solution to anything. That holds true for your approach to anti-aging (we actually prefer the term healthy-aging). We are not claiming that Longevity 4 is a magic bullet, or the "fountain of youth in a bottle." We believe that taking Longevity 4 may lead to improved physical and emotional well being. However, it is important to emphasize that it should be only one part of your approach towards strategy in improving your well being. This page is a work in progress, and if all goes well there will additions and alterations to it frequently as we improve upon its content and presentation. Please note that we are not medical professionals and we recommend that any anti-aging approach or regime you choose to follow should be carried out under the supervision of a trusted medical professional. Our foundation of good health begins with the following four points:
The Food Pyramid & RDIsThe food pyramid published by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Recommended Daily Allowances or RDIs are an excellent place to start looking at your health. Why? Despite the valid criticisms concerning these health guides they do provide an extensive and well-organized starting point for investigating your health and understanding what you require to avoid serious diseases. In the future, we will be expanding this section of our site, including a closer examination of RDIs and the food pyramid. USDA's web site concerning the Food Pyramid: Eating Organic food is better for youWhy is organic food better for you? The way that we are harvesting and growing our food has a great impact on quality. The use of pesticides can have a negative influence on health, including neurotoxicity, disruption of the endocrine system, carcinogenicity and immune system suppression. Pesticide exposure may also effect male reproduction function and has been linked to miscarriage in women. Organic farming differs from conventional farming in the methods used to grow crops. Whereas traditional farmers apply chemical fertilizers to the soil to grow crops, organic farmers feed and build soil with natural fertilizer. Whereas traditional farmers use insecticides to get rid of insects and disease, organic farmers use natural methods such as insect predators and barriers for this purpose. The result is that conventionally grown food is often tainted with chemical residues, which can be harmful to humans. There is a debate whether dietary exposure to pesticides at levels typically found on conventionally grown food is dangerous, but experts say that consumers should use caution. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) considers 60 percent of herbicides, 90 percent of fungicides and 30 percent of insecticides to be carcinogenic. Another important reason to buy organic food is to support small farmers that practice sustainability. The small family farm was once a main stay of our culture, with the advent of large corporate farms these small farms were all but gone until recently. We now have over 12,000 organic farms across the country, please spend your money wisely, supporting your local farmer. If everyone begins to buy organic the demand goes up and the costs will go down. Here
